Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.
We have another week to wait for the return of the Premier League, as the FA Cup quarter-finals dominate this weekend’s action.
The tie of the round is Saturday’s early kick-off at the Etihad, as Manchester City host Liverpool. We’ve backed the Citizens to progress in our free match predictions, and I’ve dived into their numbers and head-to-head records to produce an 88/1 fourfold for this clash.
Man City vs Liverpool Ultimate Bet Builder
Jeremy Doku to score anytime
Jeremy Doku impressed over the international break, and he’s backed to carry that form into this key clash for Manchester City. The winger was a standout when City hosted Liverpool earlier this season, scoring their third goal in a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Liverpool have struggled in the full-back positions all season, so this matchup looks perfectly set up for Doku to impress.
Dominik Szoboszlai 1+ shots on target
Szoboszlai has been one of the few Liverpool players who has enhanced his reputation this term, and he went into the international break having taken 15 shots across his last four appearances.
The Hungarian had at least one effort on target in both clashes with Man City this term, while he’s recorded a shot on target in two of his three FA Cup outings. The midfielder has had 15 efforts on target across his last 16 appearances, and with his shot output spiking, he should be a key figure for the Reds here.
Dominik Szoboszlai to be carded
While Szoboszlai should be a threat, he has also been shown a card in both league meetings this season. He was booked at the Etihad, while he was sent off in controversial circumstances in their defeat at Anfield earlier this year.
Szoboszlai has been booked in four of his last seven games for the Reds, and he leads the way for the team with nine cautions across all competitions this season.
Bernardo Silva to be carded
Silva has been in card trouble of late, picking up four bookings in seven games before being sent off in their clash with Real Madrid. He was fortunate to escape another card in the Carabao Cup final, but he might not be so lucky here.
Silva has been booked on nine occasions against Liverpool, more than any other side. He’s been cautioned in four of his last five games against Liverpool, while the choice of referee does him no favours.
Michael Oliver has officiated two City games in 2026, booking Silva in both games. Given his string of recent cards and his previous against this Liverpool side, back him to be shown another card.
