Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Both of these teams have looked suspect defensively and over 2.5 goals with both teams scoring is the pick. The selection should have landed in both league meetings between the two, with Liverpool having a goal wrongfully ruled out in their 3-0 defeat at this ground last year.

      Manchester City 2-1

      Reason for tip

Manchester City are unbeaten in their last 18 games at home and have a remarkable record at the Etihad in the FA Cup, winning their last 17 matches at this ground in this competition. Side with Pep Guardiola’s men to run out 2-1 winners.

      Jeremy Doku To Score Anytime

      Reason for tip

Jeremy Doku caused Liverpool all sorts of problems in the first game between these two and was rightfully Man of the Match. He was a standout for Belgium in the international break and is fancied to net again.

      Manchester City vs Liverpool Predictions

      • Manchester City have won their last 17 home FA Cup games.
      • Both teams have scored in five of Liverpool’s last seven matches.
      • The Reds have scored at least three in seven of their last eight FA Cup outings.

Cup last route to silverware for Reds

Manchester City and Liverpool have spent much of the last decade battling it out for the Premier League title but they may have to watch on as Arsenal lift the crown this season.

The Gunners are currently nine points clear of Pep Guardiola’s men, although the Citizens did strike a psychological blow by winning the EFL Cup against Mikel Arteta’s side last month to secure the first silverware of the season.

Out of the Champions League and adrift in the Premier League, the FA Cup may be the only other opportunity that Manchester City get as they host Liverpool, who are even further back in the top flight after an extremely disappointing title defence.

As a result this Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final has much more significance than usual in what has been one of the defining rivalries in recent English football history.

The stakes will be even higher for the Reds given the fact that this is their first game since Mo Salah announced that he will be departing at the end of the season, with this competition and the Champions League his last chance to leave on a high by adding to his considerable trophy cabinet.

      Both teams struggling

Guardiola’s men have already won both league meetings between the two this season, outclassing Liverpool 3-0 at the Etihad before they came from behind and should have been 3-1 winners at Anfield, with Dominik Szoboszlai sent off for preventing a goalscoring opportunity at the end of the game.

This should be an entertaining affair as usual, with both teams a shadow of their former selves defensively.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in five of Manchester City’s last six home games and Liverpool have a tendency to be prolific in this competition, scoring at least three times in seven of their last eight FA Cup ties.

      Doku the man to follow

Both teams have found the net in five of the Reds’ last seven games and the same is fancied here, with over 2.5 goals also the pick.

Correct score backers should note than Manchester City have won their last 17 FA Cup ties at the Etihad and take Pep Guardiola’s team to ditch their old rivals out in their own back yard.

Jeremy Doku was the Citizens’ danger man when these two met earlier this season and he was a constant threat for Belgium in their 5-2 win over the United States recently, it’s worth taking the winger to get on the scoresheet here.
