Saturday marked the end of the marathon that is the English Football League regular season, but each division harbours one final secret as 12 teams target promotion in the EFL play-offs.

We get underway with the first leg of Bristol City vs Sheffield United in the Championship on Thursday, and, ahead of the semi-finals, we have put together a treble, picking out the three most likely promoted sides.

62/1 EFL play-off outright winner treble

Championship – Coventry City at 10/3

Coventry are third in the betting, but the beaten 2023 finalists head into the play-offs in better form than their opposition and should have no issues getting past a Sunderland side that lost their last five regular-season games.

Sheffield United face a tough test against Bristol City, but the Sky Blues will fancy their chances against either in the final. The Blades have failed to gain promotion from any of their six Championship play-off appearances and dropped 14 points in their last seven games, while Bristol City have only won one of their last seven meetings with Coventry.

League One – Charlton at 9/4

Charlton put themselves in the race for promotion with a fantastic 2025 and ended the season on a high with a 3-1 win over Burton. They face a Wycombe side they beat 4-0 recently, one of two successive home defeats for the semi-finalists.

Stockport are the Addicks’ most likely opponents at Wembley, who may feel the pressure against a team carrying a lot of confidence.

League Two – Chesterfield at 7/2

Last season’s final promotion spot in League Two went to seventh-placed Crawley and the same could be in the offing for Chesterfield this time around.

They snuck into the play-offs with an excellent run of one defeat in 12 and semi-final opponents Walsall were denied automatic promotion on the final day of the season. Likely finalists Wimbledon lost 1-0 to Chesterfield this season and could repeat that to secure back-to-back promotions.
