The second round of the EFL Cup takes place across Tuesday and Wednesday this week so we rounded up our team of seven experts for their best bets ahead of the midweek action.

Together, they’ve combined for this 155/1 sixfold accumulator, with two of our experts both plumping for Coventry to do the business at Millwall, and all of these games take place on Tuesday.

Experts’ EFL Cup Mega Accumulator Tip

Joe Casey

Coventry have been in fine form to start the new season, capitalising on the feel-good energy around the club after they have finally bought their stadium to beat QPR 7-1 at the weekend.

They have a much deeper squad than they did in previous years and have a strong head-to-head record against Millwall, who they have beaten in four of the last five head-to-heads.

Frank Lampard’s side should be too strong for their Championship rivals and are fancied to come out on top.

Tip: Coventry to win @ 31/20

Enda McElhinney

Frank Lampard’s Coventry side thumped QPR 7-1 on Saturday amid a carnival atmosphere as the club confirmed the purchase of their CBS Arena home, labelling it a ‘pivotal moment’ for the future of the Sky Blues.

Coventry have now rattled the net 12 times in two games after scoring five at Derby previously.

Millwall were the latest team to pile misery on Sheffield United, winning 1-0 at Bramall Lane despite having only 39 per-cent of the ball.

They’ve lost four of the last five meetings with Coventry, however, scoring only once, and the free-scoring visitors can dump them out.

Tip: Coventry to win @ 31/20

Brentford reached the quarter-finals of this competition last season and look overpriced to beat Bournemouth in a clash of clubs that sold the family silver this summer.

The Bees bounced back from a dire opening-weekend defeat to Nottingham Forest with a typically efficient home win over Aston Villa to put any thoughts that Keith Andrews has been overpromoted on hold.

Both teams will no doubt make a host of changes from their regular Premier League line-ups, but Dango Ouattara could be involved against his former club.

And Brentford have not lost to the Cherries in four years, winning five and drawing two of their last seven meetings.

Tip: Brentford to win @ 11/4

Gareth Freeman

Preston look a decent bet at a general 11-10 to see off Championship rivals Wrexham at Deepdale on Tuesday.

North End are unbeaten after four games this season and the early signs suggest they will be a force at home this term, having claimed victories over two of the relegated teams at Deepdale.

Promoted Wrexham have struggled with the step up so far and they threw away a two-goal lead over drop favourites Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend as they were held to a draw, and they could be set for some midweek disappointment at Preston.

Tip: Preston to win @ 21/20

James Mason

Charlton’s focus will be on the Championship this season and with changes expected for the EFL Cup trip to Cambridge United, the Addicks could be set for an early exit.

Nathan Jones’ side have drawn their sole away game this term, a 0-0 stalemate at Bristol City, and a weaker starting XI for this trip to the Abbey Stadium could be made to toil.

The League Two U’s are unbeaten at home this season and they look worth backing in the double chance market, as they look to cause a cup upset.

Tip: Cambridge double chance (win or draw) @ 10/11

Aaron Rogan

Sunderland’s kind start to the season means their full focus needs to be on their league campaign. The Black Cats were eliminated at the first hurdle in both cups last season, so Huddersfield appeal on the double chance market to get a result at the Stadium of Light.

The Terriers have won four of their last five League One games, while they beat Leicester on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the previous round. Sunderland have six players who are expected to be ruled out, while their key names need to be rested for a vital clash with Brentford.

Tip: Huddersfield double chance (win or draw) @ 11/8

Alex Wrigley

Stoke have started the season by posting three successive wins in the Championship and, while they were taken to penalties in the last round of the EFL Cup, they should be able to get past League One outfit Bradford City on Tuesday.

The Bantams have started the season well and eliminated Championship Blackburn in the last round, but the Potters look a step too far and will be in high spirits after beating Southampton on Saturday.

Tip: Stoke to win @ 3/4
