Steve Palmer is finishing off the golf season strongly thanks to a 14/1 winner from this week’s BMW Championship at Medinah.

It was American Justin Thomas who took the title and along with the 2,000 FedEx points he gets for winning, he puts himself as the favourite for the $15m top prize following the conclusion of next week’s tournament.

Round 1

Thomas kicked off his BMW Championship campaign in flawless fashion, with 11 pars and 7 birdies meaning a bogey free round of 65 put Thomas in a great position heading into the second round. His putting was excellent averaging 1.583 putts per green in regulation and had 100% scrambling ensuring a bogey free opening round.

Round 2

Round 2 was a little more sticky, with 2 bogey’s in his opening three holes saw him slip down the leaderboard a bit but the excellent Thomas hit back well. He played the finla 15 holes in 5 under par which consisted of 8 pars, 6 birdies and a bogey on the par 3 13th. He was better off the tee gaining 1.251 shots on the field however his putting (1.714 putt per GIR) and Scrambling (50%) let him down on day 2.

Round 3

What we witness in Round 3 of the BMW Championship was truly sensational. Justin Thomas shot a course record 61 (-11) to launch himself miles clear ahead of the final round. He kicked off with 5 birdies in a row on the front 9 before a dropped shot at 6. That was the only blot on a perfect card however as he went on to record another 3 birdies and 2 eagles to shoot 61. Remarkably his driving accuracy in his 3rd round was the worst it had been all week and only gained 0.053 shots off the tee however his approach play was incredible gaining a mammoth 6.160 shots on the field. He averaged a ridiculous 1.286 putts per Green in regulation. A truly incredible performance by Justin Thomas.

Round 4

Round 4 was all about not throwing it away more than shooting a low score, especially with the huge $15m bonus in his sights at the end of the FedEx Cup. He had a shaky start with a bogey and 3 pars in the opening 4 holes but kicked into gear from then. 6 birdies and another bogey saw Thomas shoot a closing 68 (-4) to finish the tournament on -25.
