Mohamed Salah slipped on the Premier League Golden Boot for the fourth time after a phenomenal title-winning campaign with Liverpool, and he is unsurprisingly one of the top contenders for the award in 2025/26.

Erling Haaland leads the way in the betting, however, with the Norwegian striker targeting his third top goalscorer award in his fourth season at Manchester City.

Premier League top goalscorer predictions

Mohamed Salah at 9/2

Mohamed Salah looked set for his best Premier League goalscoring season to date before dropping off the boil once the title was in the bag, but, despite scoring just twice in his last nine Premier League appearances, he still finished the campaign on 29 goals and 18 assists.

Egypt’s African Cup of Nations entry this winter puts a black mark next to Salah’s name, but his absence is accounted for in the odds, and he still looks a good bet to retain his crown.

The 33-year-old has won the award in four of his seven seasons at Anfield and has never recorded fewer than 18 league goals for Liverpool.

With the arrivals of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, and possibly Alexander Isak, it remains to be seen how Arne Slot’s forward options will line up, but Salah will undoubtedly play a starring role.

Wirtz is as much a creator as a goalscorer, which should only boost Salah’s goalscoring opportunities, and Ekitike is more than capable of dropping deep and creating chances, too.

Ollie Watkins each-way at 25/1

Ollie Watkins ranked seventh for Premier League goals last season, but a number of factors could see him improve on his 16-goal tally for Aston Villa.

Watkins regularly found himself replaced by Jhon Duran in the first half of last season, but the Colombia international was sold in January and, with Unai Emery opting to send Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio back to their parent clubs at the end of the season, Watkins is Villa’s only contender to start up front.

Additionally, three of the forwards to finish above Watkins in the goalscoring table last season could be due a reversal of fortunes.

Chris Wood is unlikely to match his 20-goal haul, while Bryan Mbeumo has swapped Brentford for Manchester and could be the latest in a long line of Manchester United flops, with Mbeumo’s former Bees teammate Yoane Wissa likely to follow him out of the door.

Watkins has registered 50 Premier League goals across his last three seasons, and he could play a starring role in what we expect to be another successful Aston Villa campaign.
