Seattle Seahawks -4.5

The New England Patriots deserve so much credit after turning their fortunes around in just one year under head coach Mike Vrabel, but the Seahawks should cover the spread.

While both teams finished the regular season with 14-3 records, the Seahawks had the harder schedule and play in a far harder division than the Patriots.

New England struggled for large parts of their 10-7 win over the Denver Broncos, even before the snow fell at Empower Field at Mile High.

The Patriots could only secure 67 yards of offence in the first half, while in the regular season, Maye was sacked 47 times. He has been sacked a further 15 times in the playoffs and Seattle’s defence is the best in the league by a long way.

They should suffocate the Patriots before their classy and ruthless offence puts this game to bed.

Drake Maye 40+ Rushing Yards

With the Patriots offensive line failing to keep Maye upright on many occasions this season, the youngster has had to get out of the pocket to ensure his team can still progress downfield.

In the playoffs he has registered 24 rush attempts for 141 yards, while in the regular season he secured 450 rushing yards from 103 attempts.

Maye has registered 40+ rushing yards in three of his last four and against a ruthless Seattle defence, he may need to get on his bike more than usual.

Kenneth Walker III 25+ Receiving Yards

Seattle’s run-first offence will need to change their plan to find a way past the best run defence in the NFL, but thankfully they can use runningback Kenneth Walker III in the pass game.

Walker III should be on the field for the majority of the game due to an injury to fellow back Zach Charbonnet and he caught four passes for 49 yards last week. He has surpassed 25 receiving yards in four of his last five appearances.

Sam Darnold 5+ Rushing Yards

Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold has been ruthless as a passer for most of the season, but he should be able to take the pressure off his receivers by picking up a few simple rushing yards.

He rushed for nine yards in the 31-27 victory over the Los Angeles Rams last week and Seattle have adjusted their plans in the second half of the season.

Darnold is now using his legs a lot more, and he has rushed for five yards or more in five of his last seven matches.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba 80+ Receiving Yards

The Patriots will make drawing up plans to stop the No.1 receiver in the NFL, as that is one of their only chances of victory. The issue is, plenty of teams have had that plan and it has never worked.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba racked up 153 receiving yards against the Rams and he has recorded at least 70 in six of his last seven appearances.

His connection with Darnold has caused carnage for opposition defences and it does not look like it will stop in San Francisco.

TreVeyon Henderson 25+ Rushing + Receiving Yards

Viewers could have been forgiven for forgetting that TreVeyon Henderson was playing last week against the Denver Broncos. He finished that game with three rushes for five yards, his worst game since October.

Mike Vrabel needs to find a way to get Henderson involved, and his regular-season stats show he can be effective.

The rookie ended the regular season with 50 rushing yards or more in nine of his last 10 appearances, so if he can get a few more carries, he should surpass the current line with ease.
