Villarreal vs Liverpool Ultimate Bet Builder Tip
Liverpool to win by exactly one goal
Liverpool claimed a 2-0 win in the first leg and can finish the job off with another victory at El Madrigal, but they are unlikely to blow Villarreal away in Spain. Only 10 goals have been scored across Villarreal’s seven home knockout ties in this competition and no team has scored more than once in any of those. Liverpool don’t need to take too many risks here so we’re expecting them to claim a narrow one-goal victory.
Sadio Mane to score anytime
Sadio Mane has scored 14 goals for Liverpool in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, including one in the first leg against Villarreal. Only Frank Lampard (15 for Chelsea) has a better record for an English side but Mane could match him on Tuesday.
The forward has scored six times across his last eight games. He’s chipped in with key goals of late, scoring against Man City, Man United and in their away trip to Benfica in the last round of the Champions League. Back Mane to step up again in this clash.
Jordan Henderson to have one or more shots on target
Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson has had his shooting boots on in recent weeks despite the fact he hasn’t scored since the 4-1 Merseyside derby win at Goodison Park in December. Henderson has taken at least one shot in three of his last four Premier League appearances and averages 0.9 shots-per-game in this competition. The midfielder is a big price to register an effort on target at Villarreal, and as he’s averaging 0.2 shots on target per-game and a further 0.2 blocked in the Champions League we feel he can at least test the keeper on Tuesday.
Samuel Chukwueze to have one or more shots on target
Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze was the hero in the previous round with what proved to be the winning goal against Bayern Munich and he can register an attempt on goal on Tuesday. Chukwueze scored against Alaves last time out and has taken six shots across his last three La Liga games. The Nigerian is averaging 0.3 on target per-game in the Champions League and he can manage at least one shot on target as Villarreal try and fight their way back into the tie.
