Four Premier League sides were unceremoniously dumped out of the Champions League to make up the final eight of the competition last week, and with the quarter-finals already on our radar, I have taken a look at each of the four matchups heading to our screens.

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich
Tip – Real Madrid to qualify
Real Madrid once again sent Manchester City packing from the Champions League in midweek, and the star-studded Los Blancos can defy the odds to eliminate Bayern Munich in the quarter finals.
Madrid may not have been firing on all cylinders this season, but they come into their own in the latter stages of the Champions League. They have more than twice as many Champions League trophies as second-best Milan and have won the competition five times in the last decade alone.
Die Bayern are in admittedly fantastic form, but they have dropped points to Bayer Leverkusen, Hamburger and Augsburg in the last couple of months and had a much easier last-16 opponent than Real Madrid.
Sporting vs Arsenal
Tip – Arsenal to qualify
Arsenal have never won the Champions League, but the Gunners are hitting top form at just the right time to give them a chance at their maiden glory in Europe.
They are unbeaten in 14 games and have won the last 11, and they are justified favourites to stroll past a Sporting side that needed extra-time to make it past Bodo/Glimt in the round of 16.
Sporting may be rock-solid at home, but their 3-0 loss in the first leg of that tie does not bode well for the Portuguese side against an Arsenal side in the form of their lives.
Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid
Tip – Barcelona to qualify
Atletico Madrid stunned Barcelona by eliminating them from the Copa del Rey earlier this year, but the Catalan side should gain a measure of revenge in the Champions League quarter finals.
Barca have won six of their last seven games and put seven past Newcastle in midweek, while Atletico Madrid allowed the struggling Tottenham five goals across their two last-16 ties.
PSG vs Liverpool
Tip – PSG to qualify
Defending champions PSG have had their issues in the Champions League this season, but they were ruthless in their dismantlement of Chelsea in the last round and an inconsistent Liverpool side could be the next British side to fall.
Les Parisiens beat Chelsea 8-2 on aggregate and, while Liverpool’s second-leg comeback against Galatasaray was impressive, their 1-0 defeat in Turkey raises plenty of questions.
