Last weekend’s loss at Newcastle has left Chelsea’s Champions League hopes in real peril, so they can’t afford a slip up against Manchester United on Friday night.

The Red Devils have little on the line for this trip, but the stakes in terms of the top five race mean it’s not one to miss. Nicolas Jackson’s suspension also puts Chelsea in a tricky position. That’s something we’re using to find some value in this 108/1 Ultimate Bet Builder for Friday’s clash.

Enzo Fernandez to score

It’s taken over two years, but Enzo Fernandez has finally made himself a key part of this Chelsea team. The Argentine never really suited the deeper roles he has been forced to take up, while the Blues’ season took off once he dropped out of the side due to injury late last term.

His role looked under threat once the Blues added Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, but Fernandez is thriving in a more advanced role ahead of those two holding players. The Argentine has been scoring key goals of late, including the winner against Tottenham in March and their opener against Liverpool earlier this month.

Fernandez is now playing just off the striker, particularly at home. With Jackson suspended, the Blues are a little short on end-product. Fernandez has scored or assisted in four of his last five starts, so back him to find the net against United.

Marc Cucurella 1+ shot on target

Cucurella is another Chelsea signing who has turned his Stamford Bridge prospects around. The Spaniard began this season inverting from left-back, operating as an auxiliary centre-half or holding midfielder at times. However, Enzo Maresca has switched that role to the right-back, letting Cucurella off the leash.

The full-back has taken 32 shots across his last 30 appearances, while he’s had an effort on goal in eight of his previous nine appearances. His six goals this term have come since mid-December, while he’s had a lot of success against the league’s weaker sides, which 16th-placed United now count as.

The visitors’ 3-4-3 system should leave space out wide for Cucurella to push up and exploit. If the hosts are looking to sit deep, the Spaniard should push forward and make an impact. He had two shots on target at home to Everton last month, while he had one at Newcastle last week.

Pedro Neto to be carded

Neto is expected to start up front in Jackson’s place, having filled in for the striker when he was injured earlier this year. In a six-game stretch as a centre-forward between February and March, Neto made at least one foul in every game.

The Portuguese made eight fouls in total, while he picked up bookings in clashes with Arsenal and Tottenham. The winger has eight cautions in the league this term and six of them have come at Stamford Bridge, so back him to pick up a card this weekend.

Over 6.5 Chelsea corners

Sitting back and trying to frustrate Chelsea is a good strategy for United, as the Blues aren’t brilliant finishers. While they’re third in terms of shots on target, they’re middle of the pack in terms of goals per shot on target.

The Blues have underperformed their Expected Goals tally by 6.9 goals, while Jackson’s absence will impact them in the final third. With the hosts likely to dominate, they’re a good bet to improve on their average of 6.44 corners per home game.

United conceded five corners at home to West Ham last weekend, so a desperate, but occasionally blunt, Chelsea side can rack up even more.
