Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.
Arsenal’s loss to Bournemouth on Saturday is the latest twist in the title race, but Manchester City have work to do if they’re to capitalise on that result. The Citizens head to Stamford Bridge on Sunday to take on a Chelsea side who have ground to make up in the Champions League chase.
We’ve sided with the visitors in our Chelsea vs Man City predictions, and I’ve dug into some player prop markets to pick out a 43/1 fourfold for the Super Sunday clash.
Chelsea vs Man City Ultimate Bet Builder
Erling Haaland to score anytime
Haaland impressed with a hat-trick against Liverpool last weekend, and the forward looks to be in brilliant form for the title run-in. He struggled for form at the turn of the year, failing to score against Chelsea in a 1-1 draw at the Etihad. However, the Norwegian does have an impressive scoring record against the Blues.
Haaland has scored four times across his last five clashes with Chelsea, and he’s netted three goals across his last two visits to Stamford Bridge. Given how vulnerable the Blues are defensively, Haaland should build on last weekend’s stellar display.
Rayan Cherki to make an assist
Cherki ended a five-game run without an assist for City last weekend, and the midfielder has the ability to cut through this Chelsea midfield. Moises Caicedo enters the game one booking shy of a suspension, while Andrey Santos hasn’t impressed during his spell in the side.
Cherki has eight Premier League assists for the season, and he faces a Chelsea team that was routinely opened up by Everton’s midfield in their last Premier League game.
Malo Gusto to be carded
Chelsea’s Supermarket Sweep transfer policy has yielded few signings better than Malo Gusto, with the versatile Frenchman moving between right-back, left-back, and holding midfield this season.
Gusto has been shown a card in five games this term, and four of those came with him playing at right-back. With Reece James injured, he’ll feature at full-back once again, and he faces a tough assignment against Jeremy Doku.
Doku has drawn 70 fouls across all competitions this term, at an average of over two per 90 minutes. He’s drawn 27 more fouls than the next highest City player, and he represents a huge test for Gusto.
Nico O’Reilly to be carded
We can expect an interesting battle down Chelsea’s right flank on Sunday, with plenty of similarities to draw between Gusto and O’Reilly. Both players are versatile, and the City youth product also draws the majority of his cards playing at full-back.
Enzo Fernandez’s suspension should see Cole Palmer starting behind Joao Pedro, offering Estevao a start on the right. As a team, Chelsea draw yellow cards at the third-highest rate in the league. The young Brazilian can play his part in that, having been fouled 28 times this season.
Six of O’Reilly’s cards this term have come away from home, with the Englishman getting booked in visits to Man United, Newcastle, and Real Madrid. He committed two fouls against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final last month, and he’s a standout candidate against a Blues team that draws a huge amount of cautions.
