Before becoming a Sports Journalist for Free Super Tips, Aaron spent three years studying Sports Journalism at the University of Sunderland while taking in the Black Cats' 'glory years' under Martin O'Neill. Now back in Northern Ireland he turns niche stats into predictions for FST, while he's one of the few people on this island who is equally comfortable at Windsor Park and the Aviva.
Chelsea’s season is unravelling, and manager Liam Rosenior faces a potentially make-or-break week just months into his reign. The Blues head to Wembley to face Leeds this weekend, but first, they’re away at Brighton on Tuesday, aiming to avoid a seventh defeat in eight games.
Brighton are in the European mix, and they’ll see Tuesday’s game as a chance to get the jump on some of their rivals in a condensed table. Ahead of a key clash at the Amex, I’ve built on our Brighton vs Chelsea predictions to put together a 58/1 Ultimate Bet Builder.
Brighton vs Chelsea Ultimate Bet Builder
Brighton to win
Chelsea have suffered three straight defeats against Brighton, which doesn’t bode well for their hopes of turning their awful form around.
The Blues have lost six of their last seven, and their only goals across their previous six matches came against a League Two-bound Port Vale side. The Seagulls are in much better shape, and they can capitalise on the visitors’ issues.
Danny Welbeck to score anytime
Welbeck scored twice at Stamford Bridge earlier this season, and he’s now only scored more goals against Chelsea than all but three other sides in his career.
The former England international has struck 12 times in the league this season, and seven of those goals have come at home. Back him to add to that tally, having scored in two of his last three appearances at the Amex.
Jack Hinshelwood to make an assist
Chelsea have been vulnerable to central midfielders of late, with Bruno Fernandes and Rayan Cherki recording assists against them in their last two games.
Brighton’s Hinshelwood stands out as the next potential thorn in their side. The midfielder has three assists in the league this term, which have all come in his 10 home appearances.
Hinshelwood has set up goals in victories over Brentford, Forest, and Liverpool this term, and he could trouble a Chelsea side which seems to be routinely cut through with ease.
Enzo Fernandez 1+ shot on target
Enzo Fernandez’s presence likely won’t shore up Chelsea’s midfield, but the Argentine is a strong attacking threat. He’s had a shot on target in 11 of his last 14 starts for the Blues. He worked the goalkeeper in his return to the side on Saturday, while he had three shots on target at Everton in his last away appearance.
Moises Caicedo to be carded
Caicedo is on nine cautions for the campaign, successfully avoiding a tenth within 32 games, which would have triggered a suspension. He’s only been booked once across his last seven league games, but that could change on Tuesday.
The former Brighton man has been booked in four of his seven clashes with his former side, including all three visits to the Amex. With suspension worries lifted, he could be back among the cards this week.
