Blues can take another step towards a continental return with victory

Chelsea are outside of a Europa Conference League qualification spot by goal difference – down by ten goals to seventh-placed Newcastle – but they could keep on course to make their return to the continental stage after a season’s absence with a win at a Brighton side that have tailed off at the back end of the season.

The Blues have lost just one of their last 13 league matches – a 5-0 thumping at title-chasing Arsenal in late April – while Chelsea have thoroughly impressed in front of goal in recent weeks, scoring 18 goals across their last six league fixtures.

The Seagulls could struggle to keep the free-scoring Blues at bay, particularly given their torrid end to the campaign. Roberto De Zerbi’s men have won just one of their last eight games in the Premier League, while they have kept two clean sheets across their last six league matches at the AMEX Stadium.

Chelsea’s impressive recent form should see them take all three points in this encounter but, with their last away clean sheet in any competition coming at Fulham in early October, Brighton should be able to find themselves on the scoresheet. The Seagulls have failed to score more than once in any of their last 14 games in all competitions, while Chelsea are averaging three goals a game across their last six league matches and so a 3-1 win for the Blues draws appeal in the winning scoreline market.

Jackson can continue fine end to the season

Despite coming under a lot of criticism for his finishing this season, striker Nicolas Jackson finds himself in a mini purple patch of form in the dying embers of the campaign.

The Senegalese international has registered four goals and an assist across the last three games, while the 22 year old also grabbed an assist in the reverse fixture back in December and should be able to find himself in promising positions on Wednesday.
