Early Bird EFL opening weekend bets with 36/1 accumulator

Sports Journalist at FST, Gareth qualified as a journalist after graduating from university and spent over a decade as a freelance broadcast journalist, commentator and tipster before joining FST. Now living in Manchester, he is a long suffering Bolton Wanderers fan who also enjoys boxing, the NBA, tennis and rugby league.
The new EFL season gets underway on Friday night in as Luton entertain Wimbledon before a full round of League One and League Two fixtures over the weekend.
We will of course have a host of tips for all the EFL games later in the week here on FST but I’ve taken an early look at the odds and fixtures and have put together this fivefold, which pays out at 36/1.
I’ve opted for two home wins, two goals markets bets and one away victory for an underdog. Three of the games are from League One and two come from League Two, and all five kick off at 3pm on Saturday. All prices quoted come from bet365 and new customers can take advantage of their sign-up offer using the button below.
36/1 Early Bird EFL Accumulator Tip
Huddersfield to win vs Leyton Orient @ 19/20
It has been all change at Huddersfield over the summer as they have a new boss in place in Lee Grant and have been active in the transfer market, with the capture of Alfie May a particularly eye-catching piece of business.
They start the new season with a home game against Leyton Orient and I suspect it could take the visitors a while to get going after the disappointment of a play-off final loss last term. The Terriers are among the favourites to win the league and they can back that early optimism up by seeing off a probable rival in their opening test of the new season.
Wycombe to win at Bradford @ 15/8
Like Orient, Wycombe also suffered play-off disappointment last season as they were eliminated in the semi-finals by eventual winners Charlton.
The Chairboys head to promoted Braford as clear underdogs but this looks a winnable assignment for the Buckinghamshire outfit. Wanderers were among the best travellers in the third tier last season and they should come into the new season in confident mood for Mike Dodds’ first full campaign in the hot-seat.
Bradford were exceptional at home last term but are facing a higher level of opposition this term. The Bantams also limped over the finish line with just one win in their final five games, and it may take them a few weeks to acclimatise to life in League One.
Both Teams To Score in Blackpool vs Stevenage @ 19/20
This fixture immediately jumped out to me as a both teams to score contender and with goals at both ends priced at just shy of evens I couldn’t leave this off my EFL weekend accumulator.
Blackpool were a great team for both teams to score backers towards the end of last season as there were goals at both ends in five of their last six games – and they conceded in all of those. Over the course of the entire season both teams to score landed in 63% of their League One games, while Stevenage saw both teams score in their final two fixtures last season.
Boro did tend to struggle for goals on their travels and that is a slight concern. However, the Tangerines conceded in eight of their final 10 home games so the visitors should be able to get on the scoresheet in Lancashire.
Bristol Rovers to beat Harrogate @ 5/6
Bristol Rovers dropped out of League One last season as they ended the campaign with a woeful run of just one point from their final 10 games.
They open the season with a home game against Harrogate in a game that looks a great chance to end their lengthy winless run. Harrogate were terrible travellers in the fourth tier last year with just four wins in 23 attempts, losing 12 of those games, so Bristol Rovers can start their bid to bounce back at the first attempt with three points.
Over 2.5 Goals in MK Dons vs Oldham @ 17/20
MK Dons have made some bold moves in the summer transfer market and they go into the new season as the favourites to win League Two outright. Attacking additions Aaron Collins, Callum Paterson and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing give them plenty of firepower – and that may result in a high-scoring opener against promoted Oldham.
The visitors arrive on a high after winning promotion and Oldham should be able to contribute to the total goals here after managing 64 goals in 46 National League games last term, before scoring eight goals in three play-off games to earn their place back in the EFL.
