The World Golf Championship has left Mexico behind this year due to the Covid-19 outbreak, so the golf’s biggest names head to Florida to the unfamiliar surroundings of The Concession Golf Club this week.

World number one Dustin Johnson leads the pre-tournament markets and while US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau tasted a success here during his college days, few will have experience of what is considered as one of America’s toughest courses.

We’ll also be keeping an eye on all the action using bet365’s superb Live Golf Tracker.

WGC Workday Championship winner prediction: Webb Simpson at 30/1

An elite field head to Florida for the first World Golf Championship event of 2021 and Webb Simpson has a fine chance of claiming his first WGC crown in 21 attempts.

It is a new course for many of the players to tackle but the ability to keep the ball in play and perform well on tricky, undulating greens could prove the keys to success.

So, Simpson, who won the RBC Heritage in June and has claimed six top-ten finishes since, should make his presence felt.

Don’t worry too much about the 42nd place he posted last time out at the Phoenix Open because he recovered well from a miserable start.

His game is in fine fettle, he should be well rested after taking a break last week, and he is a threat to anyone in a star-studded assembly of the world’s best players.

WGC Workday Championship outsider prediction: Joaquin Niemann at 45/1

It is 18 months since Chile’s rising star Joaquin Niemann posted a six-shot victory at A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier but he has been knocking at the door again lately and could make a big impression at The Concession.

His hopes at last week’s Genesis Invitational were crushed by a 78 on Saturday after he made an encouraging start at Riviera, but he has already posted some decent results in this year, finishing second at both the Tournament of Championship and the Sony Open in Hawaii last month.

The 22-year-old is up to 25th in the world rankings and is good at finding the green in regulation and putting well when he gets there.

That could prove a recipe for success this week and the youngster will have no qualms about battling with this quality of opposition.
