Parker vs Wardley predictions and tips with 19/1 treble

Sports Journalist at FST, Gareth qualified as a journalist after graduating from university and spent over a decade as a freelance broadcast journalist, commentator and tipster before joining FST. Now living in Manchester, he is a long suffering Bolton Wanderers fan who also enjoys boxing, the NBA, tennis and rugby league.

Unbeaten British heavyweight Fabio Wardley faces the biggest test of his career to date at the 02 Arena on Saturday night as he takes on interim WBO heavyweight champions Joseph Parker.

Parker, who has held the full WBO world title previously in his career, is on a six-fight winning streak of his own and boasts a 36-3 record, while Wardley is 19-0-1 with 18 of his victories coming inside the distance.

The winner should be in line to face undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk next as the WBO have ordered the Ukrainian to face his mandatory challenger. If no fight is agreed with Usyk, then whoever wins on Saturday will probably be elevated to the full WBO title holder.

I’ve got the headline event covered, details on how to watch and a 19/1 treble tip covering the undercard.

How To Watch Parker vs Wardley

The fight will be broadcast by DAZN as a PPV event at a price of £24.99. Coverage starts at 6.30pm BST and ringwalks for Parker vs Wardley are expected at around 10.30pm.

Who Is On The Parker vs Wardley Undercard?

  • Joseph Parker vs Fabio Wardley – Heavyweight
  • Ezra Taylor vs Steed Woodall – Light heavyweight
  • Juergen Uldedaj vs Rolly Lambert Fogoum – Cruiserweight
  • Danny Quartermaine vs Royston Barney-Smith – Super featherweight
  • Mitchell Smith vs Arnie Dawson – Super featherweight

Parker vs Wardley prediction and fight preview

Wardley has enjoyed an incredible rise through the ranks after starting out in white-collar bouts but he may find the experienced Parker too much to cope with.

The New Zealander has wins over Andy Ruiz, Derek Chisora (twice), Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang on his CV and was last seen blowing away an underprepared Martin Bakole inside two rounds.

Wardley is a huge puncher but his flaws were ruthlessly exposed by the relatively unknown Justis Huni last time out. Huni was able to connect at regular intervals on Wardley and was way ahead on the scorecards, with the Ipswich man needing a sensational shot in the 10th round to secure a stoppage win in a bout he appeared destined to lose.

Given Wardley’s one-punch stoppage ability, there is a temptation to side with the 3/1 underdog but I suspect Parker will be too good for the British hopeful. Parker carries plenty of power himself with 24 of his 36 wins coming inside the distance and he should be able top carve out openings from the get go.

Parker’s road back towards world title contention has been a long one after losing his title to Anthony Joshua on points back in 2018. This is one of those occasions where I wouldn’t mind being wrong but I just don’t see Parker slipping up at the final hurdle here and he can get the job done inside the opening six rounds, as Wardley’s defence looks incredibly suspect.

Parker vs Wardley Card Treble Tip

Joseph Parker to win in rounds 1-6
Vs Fabio Wardley

Ezra Taylor to win by KO, TKO or Disqualification
Vs Steed Woodall

Ezra Taylor had been set to face Lewis Edmondson but injury forced him to pull out, wit Steed Woodall coming in as a late replacement. Taylor is 12-0 with eight wins inside the distance and he can make light work of Woodall, who has lost two of his last four fights.

Juergen Uldedaj to win by decision or technical decision
Vs Rolly Lambert Fogoum

Juergen Uldedaj has a 20-1 record and is the heavy favourite ahead of his showdown with Rolly Lambert Fogoum for the vacant IBO cruiserweight strap. Uldedaj should have the quality to win but he has a modest stoppage rate with just eight KO wins and his Cameroonian opponent has never been stopped, so take Uldedaj to win on points.
