Miami GP predictions: Can anyone stop Verstappen?

The first ever Miami Grand Prix takes place on Sunday night, with Charles Leclerc out to extend his lead after taking pole. It’s been a tough season so far for Max Verstappen and Red Bull, but things are looking up for them ahead of a visit to a track which should suit them.

The race passes by the NFL’s Miami Dolphins’ stadium and it looks incredible, adding to the hype around another big stateside race. Ahead of the main event on Sunday night see our latest Formula 1 betting tips below.

Miami GP winner prediction

Max Verstappen to win

Baku, Jeddah and Imola are the tracks to look at ahead of the debut of this new race, which includes plenty of long straights which could give us a big sprint finish. That should suit Verstappen, who dominated at Imola earlier this season.

In terms of straight-line speed, no one can match the Red Bulls this term and that should pave the way for a successful race for the pair. While Verstappen is starting behind Leclerc on the grid, that just offers a brilliant chance to back the world champion at even longer odds. We’re siding with Verstappen here, who is a 13/8 shot to take maximum points.

Miami GP prop bets

Red Bull double podium finish

Given how well suited Red Bull are at this track, it could prove to be a great weekend for both Verstappen and Sergio Perez. The pair have some work to do starting from third and fourth in the grid, but they have the pace to outgun Ferrari here and the layout should offer them plenty of chances to get out in front. The pair to both finish in the top three has drifted to 11/8 and that looks like a great option.

Lando Norris podium finish

The McLarens are starting to get into gear, with Norris going from 15th in the season opener to record three consecutive improved finishes, topping out with third place in Imola in the last race. That should mark him out as a threat to gatecrash the top three this weekend, so take him as a dark horse for the podium at 10/1.
