The Scottish Premiership gets underway this weekend and Racing Post football expert Joe Casey is back with another pair of tips ahead of the big kick off.
Celtic have won the top prize in each of the last four seasons and they have 13 titles in the last 14 years, but Joe thinks they may miss out to bitter rivals Rangers this year.
He’s also provided an 11/4 tip for a team to finish bottom. All prices quoted come from bet365 and new customers can take advantage of their sign-up offer using the button below.
Scottish Premiership 2025/26 Winner Tip
Celtic finished 17 points ahead of rivals Rangers to secure their 13th Scottish Premiership title from the last 14 seasons in 2024-25 but the battle between the pair looks set to be closer this time around.
The Light Blues obviously have a big gap to bridge, but they have made positive progress under their new ownership. The rules recently changed to allow multi-club ownership in Scotland and the 49ers group, who also own Leeds, swooped in to take a controlling stake in Rangers.
Former Southampton manager Russell Martin has taken over in the dugout and while his possession-heavy style of play may leave them vulnerable in Europe it should improve them domestically, particularly for a team who have the majority of the ball in the league anyway.
Rangers have been very busy in the transfer market, bringing in former Norwich full-back Max Aarons and ex-Bournemouth midfielder Joe Rothwell.
They have also added defender Emmanuel Fernandez from Peterborough and versatile Norwegian international Thelo Alsgaard, as well as Dundee youngster Lyall Cameron.
The Bhoys seemed complacent at the end of last term, losing two and drawing one of the last three derbies between the pair and putting in a dismal showing to lose the Scottish Cup final on penalties to Aberdeen, and Rangers look capable of ending their dominance of Scotland’s top tier going into the new campaign.
Scottish Premiership 2025/26 To Finish Bottom Tip
The race to avoid the drop looks fascinating after Ross County and St Johnstone were relegated last term.
The two teams to come up look to have a solid chance of staying, Livingston have already made eight signings and look in a stronger position than when they were relegated two seasons ago while Falkirk are fresh from back-to-back promotions and have added Championship top-scorer Brian Graham to their ranks.
That opens the door for one of the teams already in the top flight to succumb to the drop and Dundee look like major contenders.
The Dee finished four points above the relegation places last season, conceding a league-high 77 goals.
They reacted to that by replacing former boss Tony Docherty with Steven Pressley, who has not managed since he was sacked by Carlisle in November 2019.
Senior players Scott Tiffoney, Antonio Portales, Joe Shaughnessy, Jordan McGhee and Mohamad Sylla have departed, along with promising youngsters Lyall Cameron and Josh Mulligan.
There will be a lot of pressure on Simon Murray to replicate his impressive campaign from last term and Dundee seem to be banking much on Pressley being able to exploit his links to Brentford, where he worked behind the scenes recently.
That is a big risk and with their squad gutted of senior players, they could be set for the drop and could end up bottom of the pile.
