The first Major of the season, the Masters, begins at Augusta National on Thursday as Rory McIlroy aims to defend his crown after last year’s dramatic career-Slam-clinching triumph.
World number one Scottie Scheffler tops the betting ahead of LIV Golf duo Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, but it’s possible to pick holes in the front four in the betting this week.
Racing Post journalist Joe Champion has four selections for this year’s edition of the Masters. All prices quoted come from bet365 and we recommend backing this selections as each-way bets covering the top eight places.
The Masters 2026 Outright Selections
Xander Schauffele each-way at 14/1
Augusta National hosts the Masters for the 90th time this week and four players appeal in a bid to win a first Green Jacket.
This famed par-72 Georgia course, lengthened slightly to 7,565 yards for the 2026 edition, tests all areas of the game but the key attributes for Masters success are accurate approaches and the ability to get and down when missing the devilishly fast greens.
Few boast a better Augusta skill set than Xander Schauffele, who can capitalise on an ideal preparation to claim a first Masters victory.
Schauffele’s 2024 campaign, in which he won the US PGA Championship and the Open, was always going to be tough to beat, and he never found top gear last season after suffering a rib injury early in the campaign.
However, he was still able to finish eighth at Augusta on just his fifth start of the year, and signed off 2025 with victory in the Baycurrent Classic in Japan.
Schauffele finished in a share of second spot behind Tiger Woods in the 2019 Masters, in just his second appearance, and he has since compiled form figures of 3-MC-10-8-8 in the tournament.
His last 15 Major starts have resulted in 14 top-20 finishes, and his performances on the PGA Tour this year have all the hallmarks of someone who has been building to this week.
Schauffele started slowly on the West Coast Swing, found form to finish seventh at Riviera, then a productive three weeks in Florida resulted in 24th at Bay Hill, third at Sawgrass and fourth at the Valspar Championship.
Ludvig Aberg each-way at 16/1
Having let the Players Championship slip through his grasp, Ludvig Aberg experienced more Sunday frustration at the Texas Open last week, and he does have something to prove when it comes to converting winning opportunities.
However, he is arguably the form player on the PGA Tour, finishing third, fifth and fifth in his last three starts, and he is made for the Masters, as course form figures of 2-7 underline.
The Masters 2026 Outsider Selections
Min Woo Lee each-way at 33/1
At bigger odds, Min Woo Lee has long looked to have the tools for this test and has finished in the top 12 in four of his last five PGA Tour appearances.
The power-packed Perth man was 14th on his Masters debut in 2022 and his touch around the greens will be a massive asset around Augusta’s devilish dancefloors.
Nicolai Hojgaard each-way at 66/1
Nicolai Hojgaard briefly led the Masters in the third round on his 2024 debut, eventually fading into 16th, and an even more impressive effort could be coming this week.
Hojgaard returns to Augusta on an impressive run of results, finishing third in Phoenix, sixth in the Cognizant Classic and was a runner-up behind Gary Woodland in the Texas Open last time out.
