UEFA Europa League outright winner predictions
Aston Villa to win at 6/1
Aston Villa have been priced up as favourites for this season’s Europa League, and they can make good on that favouritism under the guidance of the competition’s most successful manager.
Unai Emery won the Europa League three years in a row with Sevilla a decade ago before adding a fourth winner’s medal with Villarreal in 2021, and now he has the chance to guide the Villans to their first piece of major European silverware since 1982.
Admittedly, Villa have not got off to the greatest starts this season, but they should have the quality to ease through the League Phase, and they have plenty of time to turn things around before the business end of the season.
They impressed in the Champions League last season, only narrowly losing to eventual winners PSG, and they can take their experience from that journey into a successful Europa League campaign, which saw two Premier League finalists last term.
Celta Vigo each-way at 14/1
Last year’s Europa League final was an all-English affair, but Spanish teams have made this competition their own over the years, and Celta Vigo could be the next side to find success in Europe.
Last season’s seventh-place finishers in La Liga have kept the bulk of their squad together this summer, while Spanish rivals and 10/1 shots Real Betis have lost some key figures.
Celta will be able to test their European pedigree against the likes of Lille, Nice, and Stuttgart in the League Phase, but they should make it through, and they look decent value to take the Europa League back to Spain for the 11th time.
