Minnesota Twins vs Chicago White Sox Predictions

It’s pretty much official, the Kansas City Royals are winning the American League Central Division. However, recent form has put the Minnesota Twins into serious contention for a Wildcard spot, you can be assured that no team wants to face the Twins, their pitching and their small ball baseball in any sort of postseason play.

It would be a first playoff appearance since 2010 and there’s still a difficult set of road trips against AL division leaders to come, but after winning 10 of 12, there’s a real sense of optimism building around this ball club.

They’re 8-1 against the White Sox at Target Field this season and Kyle Gibson is on the mound tonight. Gibson has endured a little bit of an up and down season, but he’s 9-9 with an ERA under 4.00 overall. Before a decent outing against Houston last week, he had been 0-3 with 7.22 ERA in seven starts, so the Twins will be hoping that he’s re-discovered some form, though it is worth noting that he threw 111 pitches in less than six innings in that start.

Jeff Samardzija will hope that facing Minnesota inspires better pitching from him. He’s 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA in three starts against the Twins this year, but he’s lost all six of his starts in August with an 8.82 ERA.

Overall, the White Sox have lost seven of their last 10, and based on this season’s form, will not be at all sad to see the back of Target Field.

      Three Reasons for Betting Tips

      1. Good odds

To get quality odds on the Twins to beat the White Sox at Target Field this season is something you should be biting the hand off of the oddsmakers for. Gibson looks like a good bet in the pitching match-up as well.

      2. Samardzija recovery probably won’t matter

He’s a good pitcher, who has been going through an extremely poor stretch of form. However, even if he does find some of his better stuff against the Twins, we wouldn’t really fancy Chicago to outscore Minnesota right now. The Twins find ways to score runs and they find ways to get out of tough positions to prevent runs too.

      3. Hitting not working for White Sox

They’ve struggled to get their offense to work consistently and they’ve been shut out three times in their last 10 games. We wouldn’t bet on it right now.
