Aberdeen vs Partick Predictions
Aberdeen’s winning streak came to an abrupt end on Tuesday as they were beaten 1-0 at relegation candidates Hamilton, after a brave performance from the hosts. This followed on from five consecutive victories for Aberdeen and is their first defeat in 2017 against a team other than Celtic.
They remain in 2nd position in the Scottish Premiership, with a six point advantage over the out of form Rangers, but it was a shock defeat for the visitors against a team battling to stay off the bottom of the table.
The Scottish FA Cup has seen Aberdeen eliminate Stranraer and Ross County so far, scoring five goals and conceding none in the process, and they will be hoping for more of the same against Partick.
The visitors storm up the Premiership table continued in midweek as they beat Dundee 1-0, to make it four consecutive victories in all competitions for them. This pushes them into the top half of the table, but with just ten points between them and the bottom of the table nobody is safe from the relegation battle at this point.
Their 1-0 win over St Johnstone in the last round of the Scottish FA Cup was the catalyst for this winning streak, and prior to that they had beaten Formartine United 4-0 in among a spell of poor form.
Away from home they have only won three of their last nine outings in all competitions though, and that includes a 2-0 defeat at the Pittodrie Stadium at the beginning of February. To make matters worse they are facing an Aberdeen side who have won seven and drawn one of their last eight home games, scoring 24 goals and conceding just four in the process.
The hosts will also be gunning for this trophy. It’s the only one left that’s on offer due to Celtic’s enormous lead in the Premiership, so it will be a high priority for every team at this stage.
Aberdeen’s defensive record at home this season has been excellent, and their recent high scoring ways in front of their own fans means that five of their last eight home matches have resulted in a comfortable margin of victory, including their hosting of Partick. Odds of 1.900 for an Aberdeen -1.0 Asian Handicap win look the best value odds on offer here, and I’m going for that alongside a 2-0 correct score predictions at 11/2.
