AC Milan vs Chelsea Predictions
- Chelsea have conceded in their last four away games
- AC Milan have conceded in seven of their last eight games
- The Rossoneri have seen BTTS in six of their last nine Champions League matches
Blues not out of danger yet
Chelsea managed to recover from a slow start in Europe to trounce AC Milan 3-0 last week. That victory moved the Blues into second in Group E, but just two points split first and last in the standings at the half-way point.
Chelsea followed up that win with heavy rotation at the weekend, winning 3-0 over Wolves. However, AC Milan saw off Juventus 2-0 on Saturday to get back on track, they’ll be hoping to build on that win with three points over the Blues in this decisive clash.
Back goals at both ends
Chelsea have won their last three games and they seem to have developed a real cutting edge, scoring eight times across their last three games. However, they are in for a tough night defensively against this Milan side.
The hosts have scored at least twice in six of their last seven at home, while they were last shut out at San Siro back in April. The Blues have conceded a goal in their last four away matches, so Milan can breach them on Tuesday.
The Rossoneri have kept one clean sheet in their last eight games, so both teams to score looks like the best bet in this one. Milan have seen both teams score in six of their last nine Champions League games, so back the pair to score on Tuesday.
Back Sterling to strike in Milan
After getting a rest on Saturday, Raheem Sterling should return to the side this week. He has been directly involved in 23 goals in his last 30 starts in the group stages of the Champions League. He’s scored 15 goals in that run, including a strike in Potter’s opening game. Given his great strike rate in the competition, back Sterling to notch on Tuesday.
The Blues are winless in their last seven away trips to face Italian teams in the competition, while Milan have won once across their last seven home games in this competition. With this group close, I can’t split these two and I’m going with a 1-1 correct score prediction.
