AC Milan got the easier draw in the Coppa Italia, facing third tier side Alessandria. They emerged from a tricky away trip with a 1-0 win and should feel confident about their prospects of advancing in that competition.

Their 2016 fortunes have arguably been trending in the opposite direction. They lost their first game after the winter break 1-0 to Bologna, but then have since drawn games against Roma and Empoli, while beating Fiorentina 2-0 at home.
