Admira vs Red Bull Salzburg Predictions
Despite ending their losing streak courtesy of a draw away at Mattersburg last weekend, Admira remain bottom of the Austrian Bundesliga table on ten points. Things don’t get any easier for Admira on Saturday as they play host to the runaway league leaders Salzburg, who head into the game in the midst of a seven game winning streak in all competitions.
The first half was tight and tense at the Pappelstadion, but a forty-third minute penalty from Zwierschitz saw Admira leading at the break. It didn’t take long for the hosts to get back onto level terms with the second half just eight minutes old when Kvasina made it 1-1. Mattersburg controlled the game with 63% of the overall possession and twice as many shots on target as Admira, and deservedly took the lead with just eight minutes remaining through Malic.
However, less than sixty-seconds later Schmidt was afford too much time and space by the hosts defence and lashed in an equaliser for Admira. This was not the end of the drama however, as Mattersburg were awarded a penalty in the eighty-ninth minute and Kvasina was given the opportunity to win the game, only to fluff his lines at the vital moment and the game ended 2-2. Admira were lucky to get anything out of their last match and will have to put in a much better performance if they are to cause a huge upset by taking something from Saturday’s game.
There was just one goal scored when Salzburg entertained Rheindorf Altach in the Bundesliga last weekend, where an eighteenth minute strike from Minamino proved enough for the hosts to claim all three points. Salzburg had 64% of the overall possession and had more shots on target than their guests, but Rheindorf Altach made life tough for their hosts and on another day may have earned a share of the spoils.
Zwierschitz leads the way in front of goal for Admira with three Bundesliga goals to his name so far, while teammates Bakış, Paintsil, Soiri, and Vorsager have all chipped in with two goals apiece. Israel international Dabour top scores in the league for Salzburg this season with eight goals, with Prevljak next inline on five, and both Minamino and Schlager contributing four goals each.
Salzburg are the clear form favourites heading into the match and their recent record against Admira suggests this game will only end in a win for the visitors. We’re confident that Salzburg will win to nil on Saturday, and have backed the final score to be a comfortable 3-0. Admira have lost four of their last six matches in the Bundesliga, while Salzburg have won their last seven matches in league and cup. Salzburg have won five of their last six matches against Admira, and the visitors have kept clean sheets in each of their last four matches.
