AFC Wimbledon vs Sheffield Wednesday Predictions
- Wimbledon have drawn three of their five League One matches at home this season.
- Sheffield Wednesday have drawn two of their last five League One games.
Draw looks likely on current form
Sheffield Wednesday could climb into the playoff places with a win at Cherry Red Records Stadium on Saturday, but a draw looks more likely on current form.
Third favourites for promotion before a ball was kicked, the Owls got off to a flying start when they took ten points from their first four fixtures. Inconsistency has crept in since then with last weekend’s win over Bolton being only Wednesday’s second since that opening run came to an end in August.
AFC Wimbledon appear to be trending downwards as a promising start has now evaporated and they languish in the bottom half of the table. Mark Robinson’s men will try to end a run of five games without a win in all competitions against the Owls, but they haven’t played since a 1-1 draw with Burton Albion a fortnight ago, which may give the visitors a slight edge.
Owls haven’t put opponents away
But the south Londoners haven’t been bad at home this season – where their only loss came against leaders Plymouth Argyle – so we like their chances of securing a draw against an Owls team that haven’t been able to put away some opponents of late. Ipswich denied them three points with a very late equaliser in late September and Oxford secured a win at Hillsborough a fortnight ago with a stoppage-time strike.
Two of Wimbledon’s three home draws this term have finished 1-1 so that looks an obvious correct score call given they have not kept a clean sheet in 11 league games this season.
