Akhisar Belediye vs Besiktas Predictions

Akhisar Belediyespor look set for a relegation battle in the Super Lig this season after finding themselves one place above the drop zone at the halfway point. On Friday Akhisar Belediyespor play host to another team that have not performed as expected this season, Besiktas, who sit seventh in the table and nine points off the league leaders Istanbul Basaksehir.

Akhisar Belediyespor returned from the winter break with a 2-1 win in the 1st leg of their Turkish Cup tie against Kayserispor. This all Super Lig tie saw Regattin open the scoring in the fifteenth minute for the visitors Akhisar Belediyespor, and an own goal from the unfortunate Turan made the scoreline 2-0 at the break. Former QPR midfielder Chery converted a seventy-eighth minute penalty for the hosts to make the final score 2-1 and set up an interesting 2nd leg next week.

Besiktas haven’t played competitively since losing 4-1 before the winter break away at Kasimpasa, have played, and won, two friendlies against Afjet Afyonspor and Helmond Sport. Kasimpasa lead 2-0 at the break against Besiktas thanks to goals from Sadiku and Diagne. Pektemek pulled a goal back for the visitors early in the second half and for a while it looked like Besiktas might comeback. However, a seventy-fifth minute penalty allowed Diagne to score his second goal of the game and restore Kasimpasa’s two goal lead, and with seven minutes of the ninety remaining Pavelka wrapped up all three points with the hosts fourth goal.

These two sides met back in August to contest their reverse league fixture, where the now departed Pepe put Besiktas in front in the thirty-ninth minute. Ryan Babel, who has just joined Premier League side Fulham, made it 2-0 to the hosts shortly before the break and even though Seleznyov pulled a goal back for the visitors in the second half, Besiktas claimed all three points. Neither team can claim to be in form leading into Friday’s game with both picking up two wins, two draws, and two defeats from their last six competitive matches. Ghana’s Manu top scores in the Super Lig for the hosts this season with four goals, while Pektemek leads the way in front of goal for Besiktas with five league goals.

We’re confident that Besiktas will win on Friday, and have backed the game to end 1-0 to the visitors. Besiktas have won four of their last five matches against Akhisar Belediyespor, and the hosts have failed to scored in three of their last six matches. Four of Akhisar Belediyespor’s and three of Besiktas’ last five games have produced under 2.5 goals, so we’re expecting a low scoring affair on Friday.
