Real Madrid to Win

Reason for tip

Real Madrid have won the last four meetings between them and Borussia Dortmund, putting five past the German side when they met in the Champions League in November, and they are fancied to get the better of them once more when the pair meet in the Club World Cup.

Real Madrid 3-1

Reason for tip

Five of the last six head-to-heads have gone over 2.5 goals and a repeat of that looks likely in this one, particularly with the return of Kylian Mbappe, and Real Madrid are fancied to win 3-1.

Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund Predictions

  • Real Madrid have won their last four meetings with these opponents
  • Five of the last six head-to-heads have gone over 2.5 goals
  • Real Madrid had 21 shots in their 1-0 win over Juventus

Los Blancos fancied to progress

Real Madrid have not quite been at their best in this year’s Club World Cup, still evidently getting used to new manager Xabi Alonso’s system.

However they have reached the quarter-final stage with relative ease and should be able to get the better of Borussia Dortmund to progress to the last four.

Los Blancos did have 21 shots, 11 of which were on target, in their 1-0 win over Juventus in the round of 16.

Alonso will also be boosted by the return of star man Kylian Mbappe, who came off the bench to play 30 minutes against Juve.

They face a Dortmund side who have had one of the easier routes through the tournament thus far, beating Mamelodi Sundowns, Ulsan HD and drawing with Fluminense in the group stages before getting the better of Mexican outfit Monterrey 2-1 in the round of 16.

Real Madrid are a big step up on those opponents and the La Liga side are fancied to make their class tell.

The five-times champions of this competition beat BVB 5-2 when they met in the Champions League back in November and have won the last four head-to-heads, they should be able to add to that tally.

Eight of Dortmund’s last ten games have gone over 2.5 goals and a repeat of that is fancied here, correct score backers should side with a 3-1 win for Los Blancos.
