Amiens vs Dijon Predictions
- Dijon have lost each of their last five away games and have failed to score in their last six.
- Amiens have won three of their last four home matches.
- Both teams have not scored in the last two meetings of these teams, in each of Dijon’s last six outings and in both of Amiens’ last two games.
Amiens hoping that home comforts will bring points
Luka Elsner’s Amiens have hit a major roadblock in recent weeks with four extremely poor defeats spitting in the face of the face of the six games unbeaten prior to this. Their defence was never great before these defeats but they have really capitulated in the last few games with the Unicorns conceding a whopping 14 goals in their last three games. They now sit in 17th place with the second most goals leaked in Ligue 1.
Amiens will be happy to be against a team of a similar stature in this one though as their opponents recently have all been of a very high standard and right on top of their game like Monaco, Montpellier and Rennes. The Unicorns are unbeaten in their last four games against Dijon (D2+W2) and will be looking to flex their attacking muscles in this one.
Amiens will also be boosted by their return to the Stade de la Licorne. While the recent losses are still unforgivable due to the margin of defeat, three of them came away from home where they have been consistently awful. At home it has been a different story with three wins in their last four games and seven goals along the way so Dijon will need to be careful in this one.
Dijon awful on the road
Much like Amiens, Dijon have also been on a pretty poor run of form but with much fewer goals conceded it must be said. They’ve won just two of their last nine games in all competitions with eleven goals conceded and six scored along the way. In this run of games they did manage to get a famous 2-1 victory over PSG but they have been frustratingly poor in much easier games like their clashes with Nantes (0-1) and Brest (0-2).
Dijon’s away form has been even worse with them picking up just four of a possible 27 points on the road. Each of their last five away trips have ended in defeat with no goals scored in the process so it could be a tetchy affair as they travel to Amiens. The Mustards could slump to 18th if they lose and results go against them here which should be a good motivator but they have shown extremely little quality in recent games to suggest that they can win this match on the road.
Early season relegation six-pointer?
This should be a very close affair as both teams look to end awful winless runs. However, with this game set to be staged in the chilly reaches of northern France as opposed to the slightly warmer stretches of the Burgundy region we’re going to edge this match in favour of Amiens.
The Unicorns have a very good record against Dijon and have won three of their last four home games which should be enough to get them the three points here. The visitors have also failed to score in their last six away games and with the hosts keeping back-to-back clean sheets in the last two renditions of this fixture we’re backing Amiens to win 1-0. Each of Dijon’s last three defeats have come by this scoreline and we like the look of it again here in this early season relegation six-pointer. We also like the look of the both teams not to score market as it has won in each of the last two clashes between these teams as well as in all of Dijon’s last six away games and Amiens’ last two home matches.
