Antwerp vs Anderlecht Predictions

• Antwerp have failed to win any of their last six home games against Anderlecht.
• Anderlecht are unbeaten in their last eight First Division A away games, winning four and drawing four.
• At least three goals have been scored in seven of the last eight Antwerp matches.

Anderlecht in shape to avoid Conference consolation

The stakes are still quite high here, despite both sides’ inability to challenge Club Brugge or Genk for the Champions League places.

A win or draw will secure Anderlecht a spot in the Europa League play-off round or maybe even direct entry into the group stage if Villarreal win this season’s edition and finish outside Spain’s top four.

A defeat would see Antwerp jump into their places and leave Vincent Kompany’s men with the small consolation prize of a spot in the third qualifying round of the Europa Conference League.

The Brussels boys look to be in better shape than Antwerp after the last round of matches which saw the Great Old thrashed 4-0 by Genk.

Frankie Vercauteren’s men have managed just one goal in their last three games and won’t be relishing a home rematch with Anderlecht, who won 4-1 at Bosuilstadion in April.

That victory for the Purple and Whites was their best performance of the season as Kompany’s side overcame a penalty miss to run riot in the second half.

Antwerp cannot defend as badly as that again, but are unlikely to get the win they need to leapfrog Anderlecht.

Because a draw would be enough for the visitors, our preference is to play the goals markets and take over 2.5 – which has landed regularly in Antwerp’s games of late.
