Arsenal vs Sunderland Predictions

  • Arsenal have won all three Carabao Cup games without conceding this term
  • The hosts have won nine of their last 10 at home, including five straight wins to nil
  • Sunderland have won just four times across their last 14 games

Golden opportunity for Gunners

Arsenal landed the plum draw of the round in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, getting a home tie against League One Sunderland. Not only have the Gunners got the only EFL side left in the competition, but they’ve got a home draw in the midst of a great run of results at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta’s side have the best home record in the Premier League, while they’ve won nine of their last 10 at home in all competitions. The Gunners have won at home in the last two rounds of this competition, while they’ve made it through three rounds so far without conceding a goal.

Sunderland have produced cup heroics to make it this far but I can’t see them going any further. The visitors have won just four of their last 14 games and that form doesn’t point to a giant-killing. The hosts have won to nil in each of their last five at home, so I’m backing an Arsenal win to nil.

Nketiah to take his chance

Eddie Nketiah has played just 38 minutes in the Premier League this term, but he’s scored in both of his Carabao Cup appearances. Those goals came in each of the last two rounds in a pair of home games, so he’s well placed to score.

Expect Nketiah to get a chance against a third-tier side and he’ll be out to impress with the forward set to move on a free transfer in the summer. Back Nketiah to find the net, while we’re tipping him to fire Arsenal to a 3-0 victory, with the Gunners scoring 11 times in the first three rounds of this competition.
