Villa can keep on pushing

Aston Villa enhanced their top-six credentials with a 2-1 win at Tottenham on Sunday, and their form at home has been so good that it should strike fear into Legia Warsaw.

Unai Emery’s side got their Europa Conference group stage off to a poor start when they suffered a surprise 3-2 defeat in Poland, but they look well-equipped to bounce back.

A draw at Wolves and a defeat at Nottingham Forest have been the only blots on their copybook in their last ten games, and they have won 16 of their last 17 matches on their own patch.

However, their defence has not been rock-solid and they have conceded in each of their last four home games and Legia may take some confidence from the fact Villa needed a late John McGinn goal to beat Zrinjski in a previous league game.

Legia have also score 12 away goals in five games in the competition this season and while Villa won at Tottenham, their defence was exposed on numerous occasions with Spurs struggling to take some clear-cut chances.

The visitors may not have enough to win but can score, so a 3-1 home win may be an attractive proposition for those who like a correct-score bet.
