- Bilbao have won six of their last ten home league games
- The visitors have scored in nine of their 12 away matches
Bilbao can make home advantage count
This has been a happy fixture for the home side in recent seasons – the last six meetings have been won by the hosts – and we are backing the trend to continue at the San Mames Stadium.
Athletic Bilbao are three points adrift of eight-placed Granada and they were brushed aside 2-0 in September’s reverse fixture, but the Nazaries are not as reliable on their travels.
Despite being in touching distance of the European qualification spot, Granada boast the worst away form in La Liga with only nine points collected from their 12 road games.
Diego Martinez’s men, who may be distracted by a Europa League last-16 visit from Molde on Thursday, have lost seven of their 12 away league matches and were beaten 3-2 at bottom club Huesca last time out.
With 26 goals conceded in those 12 road games, no team has conceded more away goals than Granada and those defensive frailties are sure to be punished.
Bilbao have lost only two of their last eight league games and both of those reverse came against Barcelona, although they netted in both.
The Basque Country side have won six of their last ten home league games, which includes over Sevilla and Real Betis, and this may be the perfect time for them to host a Granada side that have lost on their last three trips here.
However, Granada have netted in nine of their 12 away games and we predict them to do so again, so our prediction is a 2-1 win.
