Atlanta United vs New York City Predictions
- Both teams have scored in four of Atlanta’s last five games
- There have been goals at both ends in four of NYCFC’s last six
- United have won two of their last three at home, drawing the other
In-form Atlanta entertain struggling City
Atlanta United host New York City FC in the MLS in the early hours of Thursday morning as they seek to extend a six-game unbeaten run.
They have drawn four of those games, but the visit of an out-of-sorts NYCFC side looks like a good opportunity to secure a vital three points in their bid to secure a place in the play-offs.
The visitors are winless in 10 but they have at least managed to stop the rot to a degree as they have drawn their last three games. As such, both teams to score looks the better option for the main bet here despite Atlanta’s strong form.
NYCFC can get on the scoresheet
Both teams have scored in four of NYCFC’s last six games and they have managed just two clean sheets in their last 16 games across all competitions.
There have been goals at both ends in four of Atlanta’s last five games and they have found clean sheets hard to come by at home this term, with just two shut-outs in 10 attempts this season at their Mercedes-Benz Stadium home.
The hosts have conceded 29 goals in 18 MLS games, meaning they have the worst defensive record in the top nine in the Eastern Conference, so backing both teams to score appeals.
Atlanta can still claim comfortable win
Atlanta have been in good form at home with seven points from the last nine available and the goals have been flowing as they have hit 10 goals in total during that run.
A New York City goal looks likely but United can still win with room to spare against a team who are yet to record a road victory and a 3-1 win for the home side is the correct score prediction.
Miguel Berry could be handed a rare start for the hosts as Georgios Giakoumakis is away on international duty with Greece. The Spaniard has struggled for game time this term but has one goal in his last three appearances, despite playing for just 30 minutes in total across those games, and he looks a good contender for a goal.
