Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Club Brugge, who have a 100% record in the Champions League this season, have scored in 14 of their last 16 away games, while both teams have netted seven times in their last ten matches on the road in this competition. Atletico meanwhile have kept just one clean sheet in their last five home Champions League outings, while both teams have scored in their last four matches at the Wanda

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

It is very hard to split these teams, given Brugge have only won three of their last 10 Champions League away games, but are on a run of 12 victories in 15 on the road, while Atleti have only picked up two victories in their last five at the Wanda

Atletico Madrid vs Club Brugge Predictions

  • Five of Atletico’s last eight games have seen both teams score
  • Club Brugge have failed to score in just two of their last 16 away matches
  • Atletico have kept only one clean sheet in their last five home Champions League fixtures

Can Atleti get a much needed win?

The struggles in the Champions League continued for Atletico Madrid last time out, when they lost the reverse fixture with Club Brugge 2-0 in Belgium.

That result means Diego Simeone’s side sit bottom of the group, but they did at least return to winning ways at the weekend by edging to a 2-1 victory over Girona.

That means both teams have scored in five of their last eight games, as well as four in a row at the Wanda, where they have won three times in five outings this season.

Will Club Brugge get through?

Amazingly, Club Brugge have never qualified for the knock-out stages of the Champions League, but they sit top of with a 100% record, and know a fourth straight win here will take them through to the next round.

Managed Carl Hoefkens saw his side beat Porto in their only other away game in the competition so far, one of just three wins in their last ten UCL away fixtures.

Seven of those games have seen both teams score, while the Belgian outfit have only failed to net in two of their last 16 matches in all competitions on their travels.

I predict that both teams will score in this game, but I think it could end all square, with 1-1 my correct score prediction.
