Augsburg vs Schalke Betting Tips

A 3-1 win over Partizan for Augsburg on Thursday evening saw them leapfrog them in their Europa League group and beat them to qualification at the final hurdle.

This success well and truly banishes the memories of their awful start to the season where they won just one match out of their first 11 and lost eight times.

They have lost three times in their last 11 outings, winning six times. A much improved record compared to their opening couple of months.

But their early season form is still haunting their Bundesliga position. They sit in 16^th position in the league with 13 points from their opening 15 games, but a win on Sunday could send them as high as 13^th.

Schalke started the season exceptionally well with seven wins from their opening nine matches and just a single defeat.

But that form took a massive turn for the worse as they slumped to a seven match winless streak in all competitions and lost five in nine.

They have started to recover from this spell though, winning three of their last four outings and drawing the remaining one. Their 4-0 win over Asteris Tripolis on Thursday saw them qualify at the top of their Europa League group as well.

Schalke’s poor form did see them slip down the table, but a win on Sunday could see them position improve from 7^th to as high as 3^rd as the race for a European position becomes increasingly tight.

Interestingly, Schalke have never lost to Augsburg. They have faced up against each other nine times, with Schalke getting the win on six occasions and drawing the remaining three. All three of these draws came at Augsburg though, with Schalke only winning twice away from home.

Augsburg have conceded in five of their last eight games and scored in seven of them, whilst Schalke have shipped at least one goal in seven of their last eight and scored themselves in all but one as well.

This makes odds of 8/13 for Both Teams to Score on Sunday look pretty good value to me, and I’m also going for a 2-2 correct scoreline at 11/1.
