Augsburg vs Wolfsburg Betting Tips

Augsburg started their season in terrible fashion considering their excellent campaign last season. They only managed to pick up one win from their opening 11 games in all competitions and lost eight times.

They have started to turn it around though. They have only lost three of their last eight games in all competitions and picked up four wins on the way.

But Augsburg’s early season nightmare might haunt them for some time yet. Despite their upturn in form they are still in 17^th position in the Bundesliga, two points adrift of the safety of 15^th place.

It’s largely been a defensive issue for Augsburg. They have managed to score in 15 of their last 16 games, but 27 goals conceded in their last 13 games indicates a problem at the back.

Wolfsburg are in a fairly predictable position in the Bundesliga. They sit well behind Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table, with five points separating them from Dortmund and 13 points difference between them and Bayern Munich.

They have suffered a few disappointing results recently though. Three of their last six games have ended in defeat. One of these was against Bayern Munich, which was expected, but the other two came against PSV and Mainz.

A 6-0 win over Werder Bremen last weekend will surely have lifted their heads though, and they’re coming up against a side who have been terrible defensively this season.

There are some excellent odds on offer for this game. All seven of Augsburg’s last seven games have ended with more than two goals, and Wolfsburg have netted ten times in their last five matches. This makes odds of 8/11 for Over 2.5 Goals look really good value.

But I think there is more value to be had. Augsburg have lost five of their last seven home matches in all competitions, and Wolfsburg are a very good side. Odds of 6/5 for a Wolfsburg win look too attractive to turn down, so that’s where my money is going.
