Austria vs Moldova Predictions
Austria have been one of the surprise packages of European Championship qualifying. They’ve 5 wins and a draw to show for their six matches in a group which includes Russia and Sweden, both of whom were more fancied at the start of the campaign. They currently lead 3rd place Russia by 8 points with 4 games to play and may even become the first side to qualify for Euro 2016 here if they win and Russia fail to do likewise against Sweden in Moscow.
That alone should give them all the incentive they need to be pumped up for this game and given they will get 3 more opportunities to seal qualification, there is no reason to think they will put in a jittery display here against a poor Moldovan side and a convincing win could be on the cards.
It would represent a big deal for Austria who have never qualified for a European Championships besides the one they co-hosted in 2008. To some extent it is no surprise though as they have some excellent players.
In midfield Bayern Munich star David Alaba, Stoke’s Marko Arnautović and Stuttgart playmaker Martin Harnik provide genuine quality while Basel forward Marc Janko has an excellent goalscoring record for his country. All four are likely to start against Moldova so there should be no problems here and they look good value at 2.125 in the Asian Handicap market (-2.0 Goals).
Moldova have just 2 points in the group and are heading for the wooden spoon after suffering a shock defeat at home to Liechtenstein earlier in the process. They’ve not been really well beaten yet but away to the most impressive side in Group G you could certainly see that changing on Saturday.
It’s highly unlikely to be 6 or 7 but with so much motivation for Austria, they’ll want to put on a show in front of their home fans and you can back them to win 4-0 at 17/2.
