Patience may be key for Barcelona

Barcelona bowed out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage for the first time in 14 seasons following a 1-1 draw at Paris St-Germain on Wednesday, and they will be looking to take out their frustrations on rock-bottom Huesca.

Barca’s European dream may be over but their La Liga titles hopes are very much alive as they attempt to chase down target-setters Atletico Madrid.

A slow start is to blame for Barcelona now having to play catch-up, but they are unbeaten in 16 league games since December’s shock 2-1 defeat at Cadiz and look ready to pounce if Atletico wilt under pressure.

Seven of Barca’s last ten home league games have resulted in victory and this should follow suit, albeit it may take until after half-time for them to let the shackles off.

Ronald Koeman’s side have been level at the break in seven of their 13 home league games this season.

Huesca have won only one of their 13 away league outings this term, but they have been all-square at half-time in six of those fixtures.

The visitors were locked level at the break in February’s meetings with Real Madrid and Sevilla before going on to lose both contests and a similar scenario may play out at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona were 1-0 winners at Huesca in January and it is worth taking a chance on a repeat scoreline here.
