Barnsley looking forward to end of the season

The hosts will be playing League One football next season after an appalling Championship campaign that has seen the ‘Tykes’ win just six of their 44 matches league games. A year ago they were featuring in the play-offs and it represents a huge drop in form. Derby County are the only side they can realistically finish above but it doesn’t look like they’ll be claiming any points here if their head-to-head record with Preston is anything to go by. They’ve lost four of their last five meetings with the visitors and have conceded an average of 2.6 goals across those games.

Preston North End are sitting pretty in midtable but doesn’t have too much left to play for as they’re adrift of the playoff places and are well clear of the relegation battle. It’d be easy to think they’ll mentally already be on their holidays but after a heavy 4-1 defeat to rivals Blackburn Rovers last time out, boss Ryan Lowe has demanded more from his side and claimed that result also saw their “worst performance of the season”.

Hosts on the losing side once again

The hosts have been abysmal all season and will be looking forward to a break so that they can re-group. Their confidence is at an all-time low and we don’t think they’ll put up much of a fight here. We will slide with the visitors on this occasion.
