Greuther Doomed as Tough Trip Awaits

Greuther Furth’s 2021-22 Bundesliga campaign has been an absolute nightmare; the Bundesliga’s bottom club have lost their last 11 league games, are still without a victory as we head into December, and have conceded 39 goals in just 13 fixtures, an average of three per game. They lost 6-3 in a remarkable contest with Hoffenheim last time out, and have allowed opponents a greater expected goals figure than any other Bundesliga club.

Things don’t get much easier for them this weekend, as they travel to Leverkusen. Gerardo Seaone’s team have already hit the likes of Celtic, Real Betis and Borussia Monchengladbach for four this season, and impressed in their 3-1 win at RB Leipzig last week. Led by teenage sensation Florian Wirtz, who already has 17 goal involvements in league and Europe this campaign, Leverkusen should be confident of racking up the goals against their hapless visitors on Saturday.

Back Leverkusen to Entertain Again

For all of Greuther’s defensive woes this campaign, it should be stated that they’ve actually scored in seven of their last nine Bundesliga games, including against sides such as Bayern, Leipzig, and surprise package Freiburg.

With five of Leverkusen’s seven Bundesliga wins featuring over 3.5 goals, I’m backing the hosts to entertain again, en route to another high-scoring victory.

A correct score prediction of 3-1 seems a decent play, as the Bundesliga’s third-best attack meets what is comfortably its most porous defence.
