Bayer Leverkusen vs Mainz Betting Tips

After starting the season with back to back Bundesliga wins and a Champions League playoff win over Lazio, it looked like Bayer Leverkusen were in for a good season.

However, the loss of Son Heung-Min and Josep Drmic has hit them hard, despite signing Javier Hernandez as a replacement. They haven’t scored in their last three Bundesliga games, with the only respite from defeat being their 4-1 victory over BATE in the Champions League.

They have won three of their four matches since the opening day defeat, with wins against Borussia Monchengladbach, Hannover, and Hoffenheim only soured by their loss away to Schalke.

This all leaves Mainz in a promising 7^th position in the Bundesliga, whilst their opponents reside in 13^th place.

The corresponding fixture last season saw a goalless draw played out, with Leverkusen winning the match in Mainz to make it two wins, two losses, and two draws in their last six meetings.

All of Mainz’ last four games have ended with over 2.5 goals, whilst four of Leverkusen’s last six have also gone that way. This makes odds of 13/20 for Over 2.5 Goals look like pretty good value, but I think more value is to be found in backing Mainz to get a result.

Considering Leverkusen’s poor performances over the past few weeks, I think it is well within Mainz’ grasp to grab a point or more from this match.
