Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid Predictions

Bayern Munich were one of the few teams to play out a low key affair in their Champions League quarter final second leg, drawing 0-0 at home to Sevilla after their 2-1 win away from home but them in the driving seat. Against Real Madrid on Wednesday things are likely to be a bit more high tempo.

The Bundesliga champions have been far from low key since that tie though. They have won all three of their competitive matches, hammering Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen, and Hannover 96 and scoring a huge 14 goals in the process.

This has put them on the cusp of securing the Bundesliga title again, and should Schalke lose against Koln on Sunday the title could be sealed by the time this game kicks off on Wednesday.

While Bayern Munich’s Champions League quarter final was low key, Real Madrid’s was anything but. In a season of dramatic matches their quarter final second leg probably takes the top spot. They went into their clash at the Bernebau 3-0 up against Juventus, but shockingly found themselves 3-0 down with 30 minutes left to play. It was already a thrilling match to watch, but it boiled over in the 90th minute as a very late penalty was awarded to Real Madrid.

Outrage broke out among the Italians, with legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon sent off for dissent in probably his final Champions League appearance. Substitute goalkeeper Wojcech Szceszny had no chance of saving the penalty, with Cristiano Ronaldo dispatching a rocket into the corner to continue his absurd goalscoring form.

The Portuguese talisman now has 120 goals in the Champions League, 15 of which have come in just ten games this season. This is 20 goals ahead of Lionel Messi, and he has scored in every single Champions League match for Real Madrid this season. He has averaged a goal every 60 minutes, so backing him for our anytime goalscorer predictions looks a great move.

Real Madrid may have Ronaldo, but Bayern Munich have form on their side. Zinedine Zidane’s men were shocking against Juventus last time out, and they’re facing a Bayern side who haven’t lost a home game in any competition since April last year. They have won 19 of their 22 games at the Allianz Stadium this season, so we’re backing them to get the first leg win on Wednesday. Given it’s Real Madrid they’re up against, who have scored in 13 of their last 14 trips away, we’re also going for a Bayern Munich Win and Both Teams to Score alongside a 2-1 correct score predictions.
