Belgium looking for confidence booster in final warm up
Belgium play their final warm up match before Euro 2024 when they host Luxembourg, who were beaten 3-0 by France on Wednesday. The visitors are no longer the complete no hopers they may have been five years ago, benefitting from the Nations League to improve their quality and results.
The Red Lions finished third in qualifying behind Portugal and Slovakia but ahead of Iceland and Bosnia and Herzegovina, winning five of their ten qualifiers and only losing three.
Belgium went unbeaten through their qualification process, aided by Romelu Lukaku’s 14 goals, but have had a realtively low-key build up with many predicting big things from their European rivals.
Only a few members of the golden generation remain and this is surely last chance saloon when it comes to winning a major international tournament for the likes of Axel Witsel, Kevin De Bruyne and Jan Vertonghen.
Luxembourg could score
Luxembourg have netted in seven of their last 11 games and they could cause a few issues for this Belgium side, the value selection may be for the visitors to get on the scoresheet, albeit in defeat.
Leandro Trossard had an impressive campaign at Arsenal, netting 17 times in all competitions and he could get on the scoresheet in this one.
