Benfica vs Portimonense Predictions

  • Benfica have won all seven of their home league games this season, covering a -2 handicap three times.
  • Portimonense have lost three of their last four away league games, including a 4-0 defeat at Sporting Lisbon.
  • Goncalo Ramos has scored nine goals in his last nine Primeira Liga appearances.

Benfica reaction could crush Portimonense

Benfica will be seeking a reaction to last weekend’s defeat at Braga when they welcome mid-table Portimonense to Estadio da Luz on Friday night. Roger Schmidt’s men were buried at the Quarry in a game that now looks likely to be Enzo Fernandez’s last in an Eagles shirt.

The Lisbon giants remain perfect at home this season, however, and should still have far too much firepower for a Portimonense side that has lost five of the last seven head-to-head meetings with the Eagles.

Three of those seven clashes have been landslide victories for Benfica and it seems highly possible that an avalanche of goals could follow the hosts’ disastrous display at Braga.

Ramos still red hot in front of goal

Goncalo Ramos was unable to bag last weekend, but he can still boast a record of nine in his last nine league games and looks the best anytime goalscorer play available.

Portimonense lost 4-0 to Sporting on their last trip to Lisbon and the way they let a point slip to a 95th-minute winner at home to Casa Pia last week suggests they could be vulnerable to a big defeat.

A 3-0 victory is recommended in correct score betting as Benfica have scored at least three goals in six of their seven home league games while Portimonense have failed to register in three of their last four road games.
