Besiktas vs Goztepe Predictions

Caretaker Karaveli is repairing fragile Besiktas  

Besiktas would move back into European contention with a win over relegation-threatened Goztepe in the champions’ final match before Christmas. The feelgood factor is returning to Besiktas after a turbulent spell under ex-manager Sergen Yalcin came to an end earlier this month.

Caretaker boss Önder Karaveli has overseen a 4-2 home win over mid-table Kayserispor and a 2-2 draw at Fenerbahce which his side felt they should have won. And while other managers on the market appear to be pricing themselves out of the Black Eagles’ range, Karaveli is quietly establishing himself as a candidate to stay in charge until January if not quite yet a possible long-term solution.

He hasn’t yet been able to stop Besiktas from conceding goals with four in two games tallying with an average of 1.87 shipped per game this season. Admittedly, 17 of the goals that have hit the back of their net have come against elite Champions League-level opposition in one of the toughest groups, but it has done the confidence of their defenders no good at all.

Mistakes remain apparent back there and that could enable Goztepe to not only score, but potentially escape with a draw if they play their cards right. For a bottom three club, Goz Goz have achieved some respectable away results this term – such as a 1-1 draw at sixth-placed Alanyaspor and a 2-2 draw at Sivasspor, who are a spot above Besiktas now in eighth.

Hence we are playing it safe with a both teams to score bet, which should land given Goztepe have bagged in all of their road trips this term while BTTS has hit in five of Besiktas’ last six at home.

A 2-1 home win is the correct score selection because the champions are a better side than their league position reflects at the moment and the early signs point to Karaveli being just the man to repair their confidence for a rise up the table soon.
