Birmingham vs Huddersfield Predictions
David Wagner has lost all 3 matches since taking charge of Huddersfield and the excitement that surrounded his bold appointment is starting to rapidly fade. The manner of the defeats have been concerning for different reasons and all three were by at least 2 clear goals.
It is just 1 point from 6 Championship matches now for Huddersfield and they have fallen into the relegation zone and could even end the day in 24th depending on other results. Wagner needs a win but it’s hard to see them getting it here away from home against 6th place Birmingham.
One crumb of comfort for the Terriers might be that the Blues have struggled at St Andrews this term with the majority of their points coming on the road. Birmingham have only won 1 of their last 6 matches and have lost their last 2 so confidence isn’t high in their camp either. They do though remain in the top six and with manager Gary Rowett confirming his commitment to the cause in midweek in the face of speculation linking him with the Fulham job, they were dealt a major boost.
At 23/20 the home side look good value to win this given how bad Huddersfield have been of late. To still be in 6th place, 18 games into the campaign is a clear sign that Birmingham are a strong side and it surely only a matter of time before their home form picks up a bit.
It’s just hard to see Huddersfield keeping things tight at the back for 90 minutes and although they might have a goal in them, a 2-1 Birmingham win looks like a solid punt in the correct scoreline market at 8/1.
