Birmingham vs Ipswich Predictions
The bookies here seem to edging towards a low scoring game but there is potential for a bit of goalmouth action in this one. Birmingham will be more content with how their season is shaping up but two really poor results mean they come into this game with their confidence knocked quite a bit.
They’ve shipped 7 goals in their last two matches against Barnsley and Newcastle and it’s just 1 clean sheet in 9 games for them now which is a bit of a concern. Their home games this season have produced quite a few goals in general. Matches at St Andrews average 2.70 goals per game and both teams have netted in 55% of their league games this term.
Ipswich may not have a free-scoring reputation but in recent weeks as players have returned from injury, they’ve been a bit more adventurous and their games have been more entertaining as a result. There have been 2 or more goals in all of their last 8 fixtures following a run where just 1 of their previous 10 matches had done likewise. So there are clear signs that Mick McCarthy is being a bit more positive and he may feel his Ipswich team are catching Birmingham at the perfect time here so the visitors will sense this could be a good chance to rack up a priceless away win.
The league table may suggest otherwise but in reality there isn’t much to choose between these sides. Both have their limitations and perhaps significantly both bosses will think they can win this. Given there have been 2 or more goals in 8 of Birmingham’s last 9 games and all of Ipswich’s last 8, backing Over 2.0 Goal Line at 1.700 looks a pretty safe bet here.
