Blackburn vs Derby Betting Tips

Paul Clement has really got this Derby side going and the Rams have been pretty convincing winners in their recent matches. They’ve scored 9 goals in their last 3 games and were 4-2 winners at home to Wolves on Sunday. That has pushed them up into 6th place and they are only 1 point behind Middlesbrough in 2nd ahead of the midweek fixtures.

Chris Martin has been one of the driving forces in their success and the striker now has 7 goals for the season in the league, a feat only 3 players can match. One of them is fellow Scot Jordan Rhodes who has 7 league goals for Blackburn and his finishing has proved key in their recent revival.

They were unbeaten in 4 matches prior to a 3-0 defeat at MK Dons on Saturday. We perhaps shouldn’t read too much into that scoreline though as Rovers were a goal down and a man down just 10 minutes in and if they can keep their full quota they should be able to provide the Rams with a stern examination here.

The problem for them though is when Rhodes isn’t on song, more often than not neither are they and that can make them a little too easy to play against. The forward has scored 6 of their last 8 goals in the league and over 50% of Blackburn’s goals this season.
By contrast, Derby have the likes of Darren Bent waiting in the wings to provide an additional goal threat and their greater number of attacking options could prove the difference here.

Derby did the double over Blackburn last season, winning 3-2 at Ewood and the way they have been playing, they look like a really attractive bet at 7/5 to win this one too.

Goals seem likely with both sides usually pretty positive and Derby might have to work harder for it than they have done in recent weeks but they could end up securing a 2-1 win and can be backed to do that at 8/1.
