      Blackburn vs Middlesbrough Predictions

Boro won the crunch top of the table clash against previously unbeaten Brighton last time out. It was emphatic as well with Kike, Albert Adomah and Christian Stuani bagging the goals in a 3-0 win on the South Coast. The result means the Teesiders have now won 8 of their last 10 matches in the league and could go 5 points clear at the top here if 2nd place Derby slip up.

They take on a Blackburn side that had made a good start to life under Paul Lambert with 10 points coming from the Scotsman’s first 4 fixtures. They have failed to net in both of their last two outings though and Lambert suffered his first defeat last time out when his side went down 1-0 at Reading.

With Rovers struggling for goals and Middlesbrough looking very much like the dominant force in the division right now an away win seems the most likely outcome. Having won away so convincingly against their closest rivals last time out, Boro will head here full of confidence and at 5/4 look good value to secure all 3 points against a Blackburn side that despite a few improved results, still find themselves in the bottom half of the league.

It’s hard to see there being many goals in this one. Middlesbrough haven’t conceded a goal in the league in nearly 2 months and have the best defensive record in the division. Therefore they’ll be very confident of keeping a clean sheet against a Blackburn side that don’t score that many.

Boro are an all-round strong side and no side in the top six has scored more goals than them so they should have enough quality to break down the home defence and are decent value at 17/2 to win this 2-0.
